Brown also won an individual medal at State last year and a team medal when the Tigers placed in 2006.
"Three State medals for a high school athlete is a tremendous achievement," Fort Scott head coach Ken Klassen said.
Brown finished in an six-way tie for 11th place. There were actually eight golfers who finished with scores of 76 but the playoff was only held long enough to determine the ninth and 10th medalists. The ties from 11th on down are not broken.
Buhler's Brian Schulte (37-39) won the playoff for ninth. Topeka Hayden's Kurt Walker (39-37) won 10th place. Brown (37-39) and the others remained tied for 11th.
Brown's score was a season best. He had shot 77 on three occasions.
Brandon Falley of Topeka Hayden won the individual title with a score of 38-31--69. Hayden also won the team title with a score of 294 while Andover was second at 301 and cross-town rival Andover Central was third with a 309.
Cole Murrin shot 41-38--79 for the Tigers to finish in a five-way tie for 21st. Paul Norris shot 44-43--87 and Dylan Renfro carded 46-43--89 to add to Fort Scott's team score of 331, which placed eighth in the field.
Rounding out Fort Scott's scores, Tanner Beckham shot 43-48--91 and Andrew Defebaugh scored a 53-48--101.
"Cole's 79 was a good score," Klassen said. "The rest of the squad didn't play as well as they have during the year but they can all be very proud to end their year at the State Tournament. I'm proud of all of them."
