Bourbon County District Judge Mark Ward sentenced the 27 year old to 36 months of intensive supervised probation with community corrections, followed by 24 months of post-release supervision.

According to court documents, the interaction between Myers and the 15 year-old girl happened last September, the month he was charged by Bourbon County Attorney Terri Johnson with one count of indecent liberties with a child, indecent solicitation of a child, misdemeanor counts of furnishing a cereal malt beverage to a minor, and two counts of endangering a child. All charges except solicitation were dropped.
The victim didn't show up at the sentencing Monday, but several members of Myers' family attended.
The terms of his probation are that Myers must complete psychosexual counseling, submit a DNA sample for the federal crime database, abstain from alcohol and drugs, submit random urine samples for a urine analysis and gain employment. Also, Myers must register as a sex offender.
If he violates terms of probation, he could serve 19 months in state prison, which was the maximum term the judge could give him under the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines.
Ward also sentenced Myers to 20 hours of community service each week until he finds a job, and he's currently looking for employment, said Bob Farmer, Myers's attorney, late Monday afternoon.
"When he gets a job, he'll report that and then we'll speak to the judge about getting the community service modified," Farmer said.
Judge Ward considered having Myers speak to high school students about underage drinking mixed with sexual relations. But Judge Ward decided against that.
"As it was discussed in the courtroom, he's not really close enough in age with kids in high school. He (the judge) didn't think it would be quite as effective."
Exactly what type of community service is undetermined at this point. "It's whatever we can find. It could be through the city. It could be through the county. It could be any number of things."
A pre-sentence investigation determined Myers had no prior criminal history. That fact helped him stay out of prison. If he had several prior criminal infractions, the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines may have came back with a recommended "presumptive prison" term.
"He's had an exemplary life with no problems of any kind and is very well thought of in his church and among his peer group," Farmer said.
A co-defendant in the case, Alexander Gibson, also was charged with sex crimes against the 15 year old and another 15 year old. Gibson pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent liberties with a child in February. His sentencing is scheduled for June 12.
"This young man (Myers) is going to have that scar on him for a long time," Farmer said. "That's just part of the price you pay. These are very serious charges, but my client understands that he put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he used some poor judgment.
"He just wants to get this behind him and move his life forward as best as he can, and he's going to pay a huge price as a result of this for a long time. I don't think you can ever be pleased with these kind of cases because they're very difficult. Even though he's not in prison, he's still paying a huge price."

This is for look closer. Would you please advise the teacher and what class is teaching the information about abuse if a girl doesn't have a cell phone with unlimited texting. I would like to follow up on that. Also, do you have any real knowledge of how crimes are investigated by the SRS, police department, county attorney's office, etc. If you have some proof of your allegations, I ask that you send it to the editor so someone can follow up. These are serious allegations and if true, something should be done and if not, should not be posted.
WoW! I hope that isn't true about the classes at the high school teaching that all girls are vicitms and the cell phone thing can be used againts a father. On the other hand, I wouldn't be suprised at all if it were true.
There is something very strange going on with Terri Johnson. She must have some reason which nobody knows, why she sends out SRS and others to create crimes against men, sex crimes. I'd like to see her psychiatric records. There were 20 men accused of these crirmes in the past two years. Most were accused by 15 yr old girls to SRS. SRS gets HUGE, I mean HUGE amounts of money. SRS does not have to go by the law. Terri is quite eager to cooperate with them. Ft. scott better look into this matter with SRS and Terri Johnson, or they will decide to wipe out a whole community, such as they did down in Texas. SRS took those children away from their parents and have had them for six weeks. They told the nation that girls as young as 13 were being forced to have sex with older men. They said they had proof. They lied! As usual. I don't agree with the Mormons, but I thought we had freedom of religion. I surely do believe that it is a horriable sin for law officials, SRS and Terri Johnson to take babies away from mothers and for these same people to be on a witch hunt to break up families, and accuse innocent men and ruin their lives, and ruin the lives of the whole family!! But, money talks, as long as the government wants to give these HUGE amounts of money to SRS for this purpose, and to build more "Child Advocacy Centers" and they now have programs in the FT Scott H S to teach girls that ALL women are victims, and if she felt angry at her dad when he didn't let her have a cell phone with unlimited texting, then she can get even, because that is abuse!! This really needs to be stopped.
ALL I am saying is if i can see it why can't they see it??? Maybe the police do see it they can only do as much as they are allowed to do and that is no disrespect to the police. I do not have to call when the police are sitting on the corner themselves. So maybe there is a reason why they have done nothing yet.
Shorty do you call the police and inform them of the drug dealing you are witnessing or do you just drive on by complaining that someone should do something?
Just because someone takes a plea does not mean they are guilty sometimes they do it out of fear that no one will believe them. Many people have went to court in Ft Scott to be found guilty and they were innocent. And some were guilty and got off. Ft Scott courts will take a case on no merits and make a case out of it. Why they are rounding up the child molesters which is good( for those who are guilty ) Is that all the big crime they have in ft Scott??? NOT . I do not say this to say it rape etc does not happen because it does known fact. But you can ride down the street in ft Scott any given day and watch drug transactions take place by the same people and yet nothing is done. Boy what a system. Seems someone is not letting the police do there job.
According to what my son tells me, it is a well known fact that the girls have told many high schoolers that Myers did nothing but the cops pressured one of the girls to say something, anything, happened. Aaron Myers is a great kid who gives all glory to God.
As usual, when the public relies upon alleged facts, there appears to be a miscarriage of justice. Where is the proof the girls recanted the story. Where is the proof the girls said nothing happened. Have any of these people that believe they know what happened read the police reports and statements of the victims and young men. The statements would make a big difference. I consider a 15 year old child a victim when the other individuals are in their late 20's. Who should be expected to know right and wrong and the correct conduct. The man or the child. I truly wish this had gone to trial. We would all then know the truth and there would be no allegations of misjustice. Unless all the facts and documents are examined, no allegation of innocent is proper. Why would someone agree to be on a sex offender list for his lifetime if he was truly innocent.
If this girl or girls said nothing happened WHY OH WHY is the court system in Ft Scott punishing this man. Is Ft Scott short on money????? My God a life is ruined and they call this justice. As much this story was talked about he was safer to take a plea but you can not appeal a plea bargain so he is stuck with this garbage on him. And yes kansas _ lady they all have to answer to God for this. When the girl recanted this should have been thrown out. But not in ft Scott they will pursue a dead case and make something out of it. Waste of tax dollars. Make your case Ft scott.
WHATEVER...
As I said before, Aaron is a friend. It is really sad that people like to pass judgement on someone they do not even know. I am above arguing though, so this is the last post you will see from me, regardless of the trash you will no doubt post again. I am praying for Aaron and his family. In hopes that EVERYONE in the community will try to get to know him before posting anymore trash about him. Sadly, there will always be a few that like to throw stones before knowing all the facts, and even some that might know the truth but would rather keep things stirred up than to let an innocent person get on with their life.
CONCERNED PARENT --- EXACTLY WHICH OF THESE "GUILTY" FELONS ARE YOUR CHILD??? THE WAY YOU TOUT OFF YOU COMMENTS IT IS AS THOUGH YOU ARE EITHER ONE OF THEIR PARENTS OR AN UN-NAMED ACCOMPLICE!!
Yes, a guilty conscience for the alcohol, and he didn't even know about the other stuff until later!
Wasn't it Aaron who turned himself in to start this whole thing off? If I remember the original story it was either Aaron or Zan who had a guilty concience and turned themselves in.
kansas_girl is right. The girl did recant her story. Aaron is innocent, but will pay dearly for a crime he did not commit, just because our justice system is so messed up. He wanted to take it to jury, and thought long and hard on it, but was encouraged to take the plea. The ONLY thing he was guilty of was allowing the girls to drink an alcoholic beverage in his presence. That is all he should have been charged with. For those of you who don't know Aaron, you are really missing out. He is a wonderful person and I would trust my teenage daughter with him at any time. He is a good friend and really cares about people. You should get to know him, especially before you pass judgement.
He should have known better. Although he isn't the only one to blame these two girls have been nothing but trouble. He knew exactly what he was doing so know he has to take his punishment. It is to bad this had to happen but like I said he knew what he was doing..
WHAT A FINE JUSTICE SYSTEM WE HAVE!!! WOULD'NT HIS MOTHER BE SOOOOOO PROUD OF HIM!!
Oops! Meant to say that innocent people do NOT enter a plea.
Innocent people do enter a plea. Perhaps it would have been better if he went to trial and all the sordid details of this little affair came out. Put the blame where it belongs and stop making excuses. This is an intelligent young man. Why did he agree to plead to a crime if he were truly innocent. Perhaps he did not want his fan club to know what really happened???
Aaron Myers is INNOCENT of this joke of justice. Anyone who knows him, or, knows his family, knows that he is not capable of harming anyone. I would trust him to babysit my children anyday over either of these attorneys, or judge. If this had been tried in a real court with a real judge, & real attorneys who didn't have alterior motives, this would have been laughed out of court, instead of carried out the way it was in this kangaroo arena. Citizens of Ft. Scott, especially men, none of you are safe if you allow this kind of thing to continue; harrassing innocent citizens, sheer laziness where those in power would rather take the easy way out than do the right thing. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I don't know how you sleep at night. You will have to answer to God for torturing innocent people. This girl who this supposedly happened to has recanted her story, saying that nothing happened. Doesn't that mean anything? Aaron only plead guilty out of fear that jurors may not believe him. There is no evidence to back up this girls story, & she said nothing happened. To ruin a man's life? You should all be ashamed of yourselves!
