Robert "Bob" McClenahan

Robert "Bob" McClenahan, age 62, passed away at his home on May 7, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was born to Mildred Barrett McClenahan and Everette McClenahan on July 20, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y. The family moved back to the Fort Scott area. Bob graduated from the Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Junior College. He received a teaching degree in art from PSU. His first teaching position was in Uniontown, Kan. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. During that time he served active duty in Vietnam. He received several medals, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After his tour of duty he returned to the educational field and received several degrees in Special Education. He retired as the assistant administrator of the A.N.W. Special Education Cooperative in Humboldt, Kan. He married Pat Miller from Chanute, Kan. They have made their home in Uniontown.

Bob is survived by his mother, half-sister, and half-brother, all from the Fort Scott area; and a sister in Lenexa, Kan. He also leaves his wife, a step-daughter and step-son, five step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandson.

Visitation will be held at the Cheney Witt Chapel from 2 -- 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008. Services will follow at 4 p.m. Monday. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at the U.S. National Cemetery, with private family burial at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Uniontown Relay for Life, Uniontown United Methodist Women's Group, or Hospice Care of Kansas, and may be left with Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
