Katherine Roof, 100, of Uniontown, Kansas, died Tuesday evening, April 29, 2008 at the Mercy Health Center. She was born April 30, 1907, in Amazonia, Missouri, the daughter of Erwin John and Mary Ellen (Hunt) Segesman. She married Elmer A. Roof March 21, 1925 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 21, 1982.

She is survived by her son, Mitchell Roof and wife Martha, of Holly Springs, North Carolina, five grandchildren; Carrie White, Kathy Nieto, Kelly Parker, Janet McGuffey, and David Trimble, five great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters; Norma Jean Grant, Mary Jane Trimble Lambert, and Katherine D. Roof, three sisters; Ruth Schultz, Virginia Nizich, and Roberta Gamble, two brothers; Melvern Elliott, and Carl Segesman, and three grandsons; Roger Trimble, Gary Trimble, and Mark Trimble.

Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services for Katherine 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown, Kansas, with burial following at the Uniontown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Missionary Baptist Church and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kansas, 66701.
