Peggy B. Welch, age 86, a former resident of Bronson and more recently of Fort Scott Manor, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born October 9, 1921, the daughter of Joe and Elsie Haller. She married Claude Welch in July of 1950. He preceded her in death in 1983. Prior to her marriage, Peggy worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Bronson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, George Welch and wife, Judy, and Gary Welch, all of Bronson. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Justin Welch, Springfield, Missouri, Nicole Ward and husband Mike, Overland Park, Kansas, Ashley Welch, Woodward, Oklahoma, Dakota Welch and Chelsea Welch both of Bronson, Kansas; three step-grandchildren, Lisa Gray, Redfield, Kansas, Roger Welch, Bronson, Kansas, and Deann Welch, Fort Scott, Kansas; and six step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three step-children, Patricia Lopez, Jerry Welch, and Claudia Harrison.

Following cremation, Rev. Chub Bolling will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. A time of visitation will follow the memorial service.
