Fort Scott took the opener 7-3 and the night cap 9-1 to improve to 3-1 in the league and move into a tie with rival Pittsburg. The Tigers are 5-2 overall.
Pittsburg (4-2 overall) played host to second-place Iola Tuesday night.
Erica Davis was the winning pitcher of game one and also belted her second home run of the season. Inside the circle, she allowed two earned runs on six hits and six walks while striking out 11 Golden Tornadoes.
Afton Gray and Katelyn Simpson each had three hits for the Tigers. Davis, Hannah Hawkins and Joce Allen had two hits each. Davis and Gray each drove in two runs.
Gray won her first game of the season as she took over pitching duties in game two. She allowed nine hits and five walks while striking out eight. Coffeyville's run was unearned.
Simpson went three for five at the plate, driving in two runs. Elise Nation was three for four with two RBI and Gray, Hawkins, Allen and Amanda Bowles each had two hits.
The 'Nado fell to 5-5 in the league and 6-6 overall after getting swept.
The Tigers take a step out of league play Thursday when they travel to Lenexa to take on St. James Academy in a single game at 4:30 p.m. The junior varsity will play St. James' JV following the varsity contest.
NOTES -- Friday's rain-out against Labette County will be made up on April 29. The doubleheader will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Don Hewett Field. The baseball games against LCHS will also be made up at the same time that day at Ty Cullor Field....
The Tigers had played only five games on three dates from May 25 to April 20. This week alone, they are scheduled play five games on three dates in four days....
