Friday, the junior varsity took the Iola JV tournament with Tyler Cook as individual medalist. Monday, the Tiger varsity won the Buck Quincy Invitational with Chris Brown and Paul Norris taking the top two spots.
"The team did a great job today," Fort Scott head coach Ken Klassen said. "Chris Brown won, putting on greens that were uneven and rough. Paul, likewise, played very well, regaining the form of his first tournaments of the year."
The Tigers finished well in front of the pack with a team score of 326. Iola was a distant second at 341.
Brown shot 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back for a total of 77. Norris followed at 38-41--79, beating Girard's Trent Boultinghouse (40-39) on the scorecard playoff.
Tanner Beckham was one of three golfers tied for fourth as he shot 40-43--83. The tie was not broken, based on what was turned in on the scoresheet.
"Tanner began the year struggling, but he hung in there, put in some extra time and is reaping the harvest now," Klassen said. "I hope his progress continues. He's now someone we're counting on to bring in a good score."
Cook moved up to varsity on Monday and provided the fourth score for the Tigers' team total. He shot 44-45--89.
"Tyler has proven he can step up and compete well," Klassen said. "He's working hard on his short game and these scoring shots are really showing on his lower scores."
Dylan Renfro shot 47-46--93 for the Tigers while Corey Midkiff turned in a 50-53--103 in his first varsity tournament.
Friday's JV tourney was a nine-hole affair in which Fort Scott shot 192 to beat Labette County by 12 strokes. Cook was top medalist at 43 with Evan Hiser third at 48, Nolan Stark tied for fourth at 49 and Midkiff tied for eighth at 52.
Garrett Rasch shot 54 for the Tigers as he just missed a medal in tying for 11th. Jacob Marshall scored a 62 for the Tigers.
Fort Scott's JV plays at Prairie View Wednesday. The varsity goes to Coffeyville Thursday.
