Marguerite Leist, age 90, a former resident of Garland, Kans., died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Medicaiodge of Fort Scott. She was born May 6, 1517, in Cherokee, Kans., the daughter of Fred Lashmet and Ann McClean Lashmet. Marguerite moved to Garland when she was three years old, and attended Arcadia schools; graduating from Arcadia High School in 1935. She married Dellis Ray Leist on May 23 1938. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2000. She was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Fidelis Deo White Shrine of Jerusaleum #6, the Topaa Chapter Order of Eastern Star, the American Association of Retired Persons, Drywood Cattlewomen, and the Thrift Circle Club. She served as secretary of the Garland Cornmunity Club, and was township clerk of the Kansas Farm Bureau. Survivors include a son, Vincent Leist, Upland, California; a daughter, Patricia Rader, Blue Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, Diana Rader. Olathe, Kans., Michael Rader, Kansas City, Missouri, aad Matthew and Travis Leist, Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Riley and Briggs Rader, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Zelma Sweatt, Shiriey Haworth, and Lorelei Watt; and three brothers, James Lashmet, Paul Lashmet and John Donald Leshmet. Father Darrin May will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery near Garland. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
