George and Wilma Vandenburg

George and Wilma Vandenburg, of Richards, Mo., will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on May 6, 2008. In honor of the occasion and following the renewal of vows, the couple's children will host a reception Saturday, May 3, at the Nevada/Vernon County Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m., with a family dinner to follow.

George and the former Wilma Knouf, of El Dorado, Kan., were married in Nevada in 1958 and have resided in the present area since 1964. George is retired from the Nevada State Hospital and enjoys gardening as a hobby. Wilma, a homemaker, enjoys painting lawn ornaments as a hobby.

The Vandenburg children are David, Malinda, Rita, Vicky and Mike.
