Eagle baseball splits with Wildcats

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

MORAN -- Uniontown's baseball team continued its pattern of splitting doubleheaders here Monday afternoon. Marmaton Valley won the first game 10-0 but the Eagles took game two 4-1.

Eagle pitching surrendered eight hits and five walks in the opener but head coach Chris Wood said errors were to blame for the loss. He said Uniontown (3-3) committed seven errors.

In game two, Luke Spainhoward (3-0) allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out 17 batters. He was supported in part by Ty Clayton, who was two for three and drove in two runs. Cameron Jackson added a double. Shawn Pritchett stole two bases.

Spainhoward was also two for two at the plate in the opener.

Uniontown is idle until April 24 when it will travel to Mound City for a triangular with host Jayhawk-Linn and visiting Altoona-Midway.
