Verna Mardell Bunn, 80 longtime resident of the Southeast Kansas area, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday April 14, 2008, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, Kan.
She was born March 15, 1928, in West Mineral, Kan., the daughter of William Rollin and Blanche (Russell) Lauer. She attended schools in West Mineral and spent her early years in Carona, Kan.
Verna married Don Parsons on Jan. 17, 1949, in Girard, Kan.; they were later divorced. She married Bill Bunn in August of 1972 in Miami, Okla.; he preceded her in death in August of 1997.
Survivors include a son Donald Mark Parsons and wife Rajean of Fort Scott; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Gravett and husband Dean of Weir and Deborah Sue Weishaar and husband Rick of Nortonville; two sisters, Etta Mae Florio of Mulvane and Delilah Ann Seal of Opolis; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Calvin and Clair Lauer, and a sister, Inez Duensing.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday April 17 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with the Rev. Jamie Tickel officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
