Fort Scott won the first game in eight innings, 6-3, then took the second game, 5-2.
The Greyhounds (13-9 in the East and 24-16 overall) are now a half-game ahead of Allen County (13-11, 20-16) for fourth place in the division. The top four teams in the Eastern and Western divisions host first-round playoff series against one of the bottom four teams in the opposite division when the Region VI Tournament begins in May.
Fort Scott scored three runs in the top of the sixth to win the opener. Trevor Geist got the victory in relief when he pitched the final 1 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit and one walk.
Travis Cruz was three for four at the plate and hit a home run. Zach Caldwell had a pinch-hit two-run homer. Brandt Barnes was three for three, scoring three runs.
Cruz also hit a home run in the second game as he went two for four. Cullen Baxter was also two for four while Jason Houston was two for three.
Fort Scott used five pitchers. Adam Johnston got the win, going the first 6 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Geist was credited with the save as he struck out the game's final batter.
The Greyhounds will have a busy week. They will host Coffeyville this afternoon and Lions Park. They will travel to Kansas City Kansas Thursday, then are scheduled to finish a suspended game versus Independence Friday at Lions Park before hosting Neosho County in a Saturday doubleheader and going to Highland for a make-up twinbill on Sunday.
