Leo Robert Lager, 88, of Fort Scott, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Health Center on Saturday evening, April 12, 2008. He was born on Sept. 29, 1919, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Claus Elias and Emma Henrietta Mitzner Lager. He married Lucile Irene Reed on June 1, 1941, in Fort Scott. She preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2003.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Fort Scott.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet Irene Riggs of Richmond, Texas, and Jeanne Evans and her husband, Ron, of El Dorado, Kan.; a son, Jerald Leon Lager and his wife, Betty of Clementon, N.J.; a companion and friend, Mary Lingle; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Betty Reed of Fort Scott; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home in Fort Scott. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Fort Scott or the charity of donor's choice and may be sent to or left in the care of Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O.
