Special guests in Arcadia Christian Church on Sunday, April 13, were Bill and Ann Swearingin of Dewey, Okla. They were guests of Judy Rawlings, their niece. Bill is the youngest brother of the late Mary Gardner. The congregation was pleased to have Ann accompany them on the piano during praise and worship time. The Swearingins said they knew Ralph and Cindy Shead as missionaries when their church in Dewey helped support the couple in Chile.

Birthday offerings were given by Vera Parrish and for Bobby Miller, Clifford Watt, Alex Taylor and Hali Edwards by Mae Watt.

Marissa and Liberty Monaghan were the two little girls in Patty Peterson's class this Sunday.

Pastor David Peterson's sermon was taken from Daniel 3. He dared us to have the courage of Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego, who were not consumed in the fiery furnace. Resolve to stand up for what is right.

Bill, Delton Jr. and Tom Watt, all brothers, took their annual journey to Mesquite, Nev. for five days to play in a tournament where 30-40 friends gather each year for golfing.

About the same time, another brother, Allen Watt, and his wife Linda, with Andy and Stephanie Watt Schwilling from Wichita went to Dallas-FortWorth to watch the NASCAR Races.

On Sunday, April 6, Walter Foulk, Betty Dehn and Mae Watt attended Sunday afternoon church at Arma Care Center. The Rev. David Peterson, their pastor, led the singing and gave the message from the Book of Daniel. Mary V. Shead spent that same afternoon visiting her former classmate, Peachy Bedene. The Arcadians also greeted Kathreen Kunstel and Marie Rodich and met one of the workers from Arcadia, Bonnie Kunzler.

Class No. 10 meeting in March had seven present with Carole Garrison as hostess. A friend to all, Willa Cable gave the lesson titled "The Cross. What Are Your Thoughts of the Cross?" This caused all ladies to stop and ponder before answering.

Cards were signed for Gerald Peterson who lost his Oskaloosa home in a fire and the pastor's mother, Twonette Skidmore, who was ill in Wichita.

Ladies Retreat was announced for April 26. It will start at 8:30 with a Continental Tea. Susan Casey will be the speaker. A salad luncheon brought by all will be served at noon. Ladies are invited to bring a small family picture to be used in the craft period. Mr. and Mrs. Randy McKerley will be in charge of the music.

President Patty Peterson dismissed the meeting with "Love God-Love People." Jesus never went out of his way -- no one was out of His way. Carole served Coconut Cake with iced or hot tea with assorted nuts.
