Eagle baseball splits at Oswego

Monday, April 7, 2008

OSWEGO -- Uniontown's baseball team split a make-up doubleheader with Oswego here Friday evening. The homestanding Indians won the first game, 16-1, but the Eagles took the second game, 3-1.

Uniontown (2-2) scored its only run when Shawn Pritchett drove in Luke Spainhoward in the first inning. Ethan Hammond had the Eagles' only other hit.

Spainhoward (2-0) took the mound for the second game and gave up only one hit, which was a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. He also walked three and struck out nine.

Uniontown scored once in the second inning and twice in the sixth. One of the sixth-inning runs came on a homer by freshman Ty Clayton.

Spainhoward also belted two hits to support his own cause. The Eagles had seven hits in all.

Uniontown is idle until Monday.
