Bronson Eastern Star has meeting, installs new officers

Bronson Chapter No. 65 held a regular meeting March 3, 2008 with 16 officers and 3 visitors present. Geri Reeder, Worthy Matron, greeted with everyone with a welcome and a poem. The meeting opened in form with Louis Pool, Worthy Patron and Geri Reeder in the East.

Janice Olson was escorted to the west by Conductress Martha Heffernon. Introduced and welcomed by Worthy Matron Geri Reeder. Janice is a member of Bronson Chapter and a dual member of Chanute and lives in Chanute. She is Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of Kansas.

Julia Ann Rhoton was presented and introduced in the West. She is a Special Page to Grand Ruth, Janice Olson.

Tom Johnson, Excellent High Priest, Iola Chapter No. 8 Iola Royal Arch Masons was introduced and welcomed.

Visitors introduced and welcomed were Marlene Marts from Sunflower Chapter of Chanute.

Installing officers for the new year were Marlene Marts as Worthy Matron. Janice Olson as Marshal, Julia Ann Rhoton as Chaplain, and Lorna Carlton as Organist.

Those installed were Worthy Matron, Martha Heffernon; Worthy Patron, Jim Heffernon, Assoc. Worthy Matron, Edna Marie Jackson; and Assoc. Worthy Patron, Glenn Smith. Conductress Elsie F. Weast; Assoc. Conductress, Erma Eastwood; Secretary, Margaret Johnson; Chaplain, Julia Ann Rhoton; Marshal, Elvis Reeder; Organist, Lorna Carlton; Adah, Geri Reeder; Ruth, Bonita Holeman; Esther, Grace Smith; Martha, Retta Smith; Electa, Ellen Harper; Warder, Tom Johnson; Sentinel, Louis Pool. Treasurer will be installed at a later date.

Gifts were presented by Ednamarie Jackson and Glenn Smith to our past Matron and Patron Geri Reeder, who received a water can and flowers, and Louis Pool, who received fishing fun things.

Under sickness it was reported that Elizabeth Lundberg was very ill.

The installing officers were presented and given gifts by Martha Heffernon.

Many beautiful verses were read and many kind words were said at the meeting.

Jim Heffernon, Worthy Patron's closing thought was "Junk is something you keep for years and throw it away 3 weeks before you need it".

Janice Olson graciously and earnestly responded, as did Julia Ann Rhoton.

The meeting was adjourned. After the meeting coffee, made by Louis Pool and Refreshments of finger foods, brought by all, were enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
