Fort Scott High ended up with three athletes on the wrestling and girls' basketball teams and two on the boys' basketball team.
Starting with wrestling, where Andre Davis, a senior who returned to the team after sitting out his junior season, was named to the First Team as the 189-pound performer. Senior Blake Nelson and sophomore Denzell Davis were the Honorable Mention team members at 171 and 119 pounds, respectively.
The SEK Coach of the Year in wrestling was Andy Albright, a former Fort Scott High wrestler who led his Chanute Blue Comets to their second consecutive league title, grabbing it outright this season after sharing it with Fort Scott and Labette County last season. Albright's Comets, Labette County and Columbus each had four men on the First Team. But with an additional five on the Honorable Mention lost, Chanute had the most total wrestlers honored.
Next is girls' basketball, where the State Tournament-qualifying Tigers saw senior Joce Allen named to the First Team and junior Kori Page Rienbolt and sophomore Jolee Sharp were selected to the Honorable Mention squad.
Labette County senior Kendra Frazier and Independence junior Kirsten Stienle were unanimous selections. Iola was the only school with two First Team players: senior Misty Powelson and junior Jenna Sigg. Maddy Overman, a senior from Columbus, rounds out the First Team.
LCHS, Fort Scott and Iola each had three players honored in total. Of the 16 selections, 10 were seniors and four were juniors.
The girls' Coach of the Year is Iola's Becky Carlson, who led her Fillies to third place this season. One of her team's victories was over league champion and State tourney qualifier Labette County.
Fort Scott junior Alex Barner was one of six players named to the boys' basketball First Team. Senior Tony Karleskint was named to the Second Team.
Sean Stotler of Pittsburg, Devin Crabtree of Chanute and Mitch Rolls of Coffeyville, all seniors, were unanimous choices. Barner was the only junior on the First Team and just one of four underclassmen chosen overall out of the 16 players honored.
Pittsburg had two First Team picks and three in total to lead all schools.
