Ronald D. Womelsdorf, age 68, a resident of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. He was born February 16, 1940, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Isaac William "Boone" Womelsdorf and Rosa Viola McReynolds Womelsdorf. Ron spent his childhood in Mapleton, Kan., prior to moving to Denver, Colo. He married Louella Crane on Nov. 1, 1959, at Denver, Colo. The couple moved to Iola in the late 1960s. Ron owned and operated the Iola Alfalfa Dehydrating Company and later worked for the City of Iola Water Treatment Plant. He also performed carpentry work. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Louella, of the home; two daughters, Pam Kerr and husband, Berkley, Iola, Kan. and Becky Robb and husband, Steve, Gas, Kan.; five grandchildren, Travis Robb, Jason Robb, Dalton Kerr, Ashley St. Clair and Vanessa Kerr, and a great-grandson, Drake Guillory. Also surviving is a brother, Roger Womelsdorf, LaHarpe, Kan.

The Rev. Jared Witt will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Woods Cemetery near Redfield, Kan. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
