Robert Kenneth "Jack" Sharp, age 82, a resident of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 in the Mercy Health Center emergency room.
He was born Aug. 31, 1925 in Fort Scott, the son of A. Earl Sharp and Eunice Elizabeth Lyle Sharp. Jack supported himself working on farms from the age of 11.
He married Ruth Pauline Fanning on Sept. 3, 1966 in Fort Scott. He retired from Hinkley Beverage Company following 30 years of employment.
He went to work for himself in the S and S Vending Company which serviced over 70 vending machines in Bourbon and surrounding counties. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle. He loved to bowl, watch auto racing and attended most local auctions.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; one son, Kenny Sharp and wife Dawn, Fort Scott; one daughter, Sandy Anderson, Fort Scott; a step-daughter, Doris Hite and husband Jim, Wichita, Kansas. Also surviving is a sister, Ailene Honor, Cassville, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Robert "Bob" Sharp; three brothers, Raymond Sharp, Eathel Sharp and Orville Sharp; and one sister, Pauline Wurtz.
The Rev. A.F. Collins will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3 in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Tabernacle and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
