Jayhawk-Linn's Johnson goes 1-2 at 3-2-1A State tourney

Monday, February 25, 2008
HAYS -- Jayhawk-Linn's Alan Johnson had a 1-2 record in the 215-pound bracket at the Class 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament here over the weekend.

Jackson, the only Jayhawk qualifier, won his first match by pinning Matt Bosworth of Central-Burden

Johnson's next match was against Oakley's Aaron Racette, who took that by a 13-2 score.

Saturday morning, Kyle Anderson of Cimarron eliminated Johnson by pinfall.

Johnson's performance did score four team points for the Jayhawks. The second-year program, coached by former Fort Scott High School wrestler Brett Kramer, has sent three wrestlers to State in its young history. Caleb Jackson and Lucas Camac qualified in the program's inaugural season with Camac earning a sixth-place medal.

Smith Center won the team title with 127 1/2 points. The Redmen were co-champs with Beloit last season.

Phillipsburg was second while Beloit finished third.
