Frances Rebecca "Becky" Murn

Frances Rebecca "Becky" Murn, age 88, former resident of Fort Scott and more recently of Country View Nursing Home, in Prescott, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Fort Scott Mercy Health Center. She was born June 15, 1919, in Big Sandy, Tenn., the daughter of Perry and Stella Greer. Becky married William Karl Murn on Sept. 21, 1942, in Nevada. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1986. Becky was owner with her parents and waitress of the Greer Café located on East Wall Street. She retired from the restaurant at it's closing in 1969. She worked as a sales lady for the Gift Shoppe until her full retirement in 1982. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Karlene Spencer and husband Dr. Richard Spencer, Fort Scott. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Jonathan Spencer.

The Rev. A. F. Collins will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m., Monday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Fort Scott Christian Heights and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS, 66701.
