She was born Oct. 23, 1930 in Godfrey, Kansas, the daughter of George Lockwood and Mildred Church Lockwood. Carol married Harold Thompson on June 21, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Carol had worked for Western Insurance, American States and Lincoln National Companies prior to her retirement. For the past 15 years, she has worked in her home as a transcriber for the Baker Clinic. She was a member of the Community Christian Church. Prior to her illness, she loved to bowl.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Gary Thompson and wife Suzanne, Mound City, Kansas; two daughters, Sandra Hemphill and husband Jack and Sharon Seifert and husband Kelly, all of Fort Scott. Also surviving is a brother, Murray Lockwood, Arma, Kansas; a sister, Maxine Smith, Fort Scott; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson.
The Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS, 66701.
