Arcadia Community Center pancake breakfast Saturday

The Community Gospel Sing on Saturday evening, Feb. 2, was a blessing to all who attended and enjoyed the evening. Mark your calendars for the first Saturday evening, March 1, for the next gathering.

The Old Settler's Committee reminds all of the pancake breakfast to be held in Arcadia Community Center on Feb. 9,. serving will be from 9-11a.m. for a free will donation. From noon until 2 p.m. that same day, Bingo will be played for 50 cents per card and end with a Blackout Card for $5. Volunteers are welcome to assist in this activity .

On a recent weekend, Larry and Vickie Shead went to Welch, Okla., where they met their daughter, Mitzi Ray and husband Joel Ray with baby Cademon at their friends John and Christina Dorsey's home. All enjoyed dinner that evening in Miami, Okla. The Rays and Dorseys were college friends at Oral Roberts University in their younger days.

Pictured in the Arcadia City News that is sent in the mail with the light and water bills, was two-year-old Kira Trenary and Michael Beasley, the winners of the bicycles at the time Santa was present in Community Center. This is a monthly paper printed by City Clerk Forrest Berkey. We appreciate getting city news this way.

On Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 21, the JOY Sunday School Class held their monthly meeting in Christian Church Bungalow with a dozen people present. Sixteen cheer and Christmas cards were sent since the November meeting. Many thank-yous were received for the cookies given to friends of the classmates.

Betty Dehn and Jack Payne gave birthday offerings. Willa and Charles Cable, former pastors were on the prayer list. They are now much improved.

Correspondence that evening consisted of a brochure showing a drawing of the future home of Campus Christians group at Pittsburg State University as well as LATM in Joplin, Mo. where they were proud to announce they had reached their goal of having published in foreign languages, their one millionth book for missionaries to use overseas.

Others present that evening were Mary Lee Payne, John and Vera Parrish, Wayne Parrish, Patty and Gary Peterson, Mary V. Shead, Mae Watt, Pat and Kathy Allen and Pastor David Peterson who dropped by to say hello.

Recent guests in Arcadia Christian Church were Susan McKerson and granddaughter Courtney and Danielle Allen, Stephanie and Andy Lechliter, Libby Westfall with Kristen and Ian Monaghan, Marissa and Michael.

On Sunday, Feb. 3, following the monthly church dinner, a baby shower was given by the JOY SS class to honor Sunday school teachers, from Joplin. Beautiful baby gifts were received. Decorated table had special cakes by Vera Parrish, nuts, mints and punch served by Patty Peterson and Christy Parrish.

The minature candy bar favors had labels that read Welcome to a baby shower for baby Pavlik made with love by Jace and Jesse.
