Richard William Bryant, age 82, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born August 27, 1925, in Fort Scott, the son of Jay Clarence Bryant and Anna Want Bryant. He married Elizabeth West on April 30, 1945, at Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2003.

Mr. Bryant worked as a self-employed plumber in the Fort Scott area for over 30 years. He retired in 2002.

Survivors include his son, Leon Bryant and wife, Carol, Nixa, Missouri; five grandchildren, Micheal Bryant, Annie Bryant, Harold Koehn, Sam Brown and Emily Brown and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles William Bryant, two brothers, Jay Bryant and Milton Bryant, and a sister, Alma Price.

Danny Brown will conduct graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at the Richland Cemetery at Richards, Missouri. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Christian Gospel Chapel and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
