Betty served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Pharmacists Mate 3rd Class. She worked as a Medical Technologist, and she also farmed.
She is survived by a daughter; Penny Bryant, of Tarpley, Texas, a grandson; Eric Bryant Shaffer, of Houston, Texas, a great-granddaughter; Emily Anne Shaffer, two sisters; Alice Good, of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Peggy Stevens, of Mandeville, Louisiana, two brothers; James "Jerry" Lyons and Laurence "Larry" Lyons, both of Fort Scott, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Jane Meeks, and Ruth Mahler, and two brothers; Thomas Lyons, and Donald "Doc" Lyons.
The Rev. William Wolff will conduct graveside services for Betty at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kansas, 66701.
