UNIONTOWN, Kan. -- Pittsburg Colgan's boys, the top-ranked team in Kansas Class 2A, capped a Panther sweep of Uniontown with a 72-46 win at the West Bourbon Elementary School gymnasium Friday night.

Colgan's girls opened things up with a 20-point win over the Eagles, 67-47.

Uniontown's boys (7-6) never led, according to head coach Nathan Hinrichs.

"We lost to a good team that played well tonight," he said. "We know we can play better in every facet of the game and are eager to get back on track."

Travis Aikins led Uniontown with 12 points while Jesse Johnston added 10. Stuart Jeck scored 20 points for Colgan (11-1) and Michael Mitchelson added 16.

Colgan girls 67, Uniontown 47.

Lisa Elmer scored 22 points to lead the Panthers (8-4) to the win over Uniontown. Monica Soper added 14 points and Kirby Kelly 13.

"We let Lisa Elmer go off in the first quarter," Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. "But after that, we settled in and competed with them."

Abbie Smith led the Eagles (3-10) with 17 points. Jayme Shank added 12 points.

The Eagles host Chetopa in a Three Rivers League doubleheader Tuesday.
