Have you checked your water meter lid lately? I went out to read mine last week and the lid and the collar under it were gone. I have no idea what could have happened to it unless some of the truckers who go by here with loads of metal might have stopped and added them to their load. I called the water department and they came out right away and replaced the lid and collar. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Pastor Stephan Muhota's sermon at the Diamond Community Church Jan. 13 was titled "A Childlike Faith." Scripture was taken from Mark: 14-27. He urged us to read our Bibles and to have a childlike faith to help us through 2008. A trio composed of Joy and Stephan Muhota and James Mugure sang "Burdens are Lifted At Calvary." They were accompanied on the guitar by Rahab Muhota. "My God Is Here" was sung by Grace and Bro Muhota accompanied by Rahab on the piano. Visitors were Mike Good, Springfield, Mo., and Ann Myorose, Joplin, Mo.

Dorothy DeCoudres, Dale and Betty Hixon and Esther Secrest enjoyed lunch at Chicken Annie's Restaurant on Jan. 13.

Lucile Wolf, whose birthday was Jan. 15, was treated to dinner at Chicken Annie's Restaurant on Jan. 13 by Ruby Myers, Eldon and Pam Korinek, Andrew and Susan Korinek, and Kayla, Eddie and Brenda Beerbower and John and Wendy Salvador.

On Jan. 11, the Harvey siblings met with Edna Mae Marsh for their monthly get-together. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Harvey, Vian, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gates, Joplin, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wrestler, Chanute, Ada Jean Chaffin and friend Roberta, Independence, Mo.

The Meet and Eat Support Group enjoyed lunch at Sugarfoot and Peaches BBQ on Jan. 16.

Lucile Wolf was hostess to the members of the Kan-Mo Jolly Circle Club on Jan. 17. Hazel Gulliford, president, conducted the meeting. The group sang the club theme song, "The More We Get Together" and repeated the club motto. Eight members answered roll with their favorite flower. The hostess read the 23rd Psalm. Hazel Gulliford won the hostess gift. Members filled in the yearbooks for 2008. The meeting closed with all praying The Lords Prayer.

Winners at Bingo were Hazel Gulliford, Esther Secrest, Mary Ellen Lundberg, Ruby Myers, and Opal Brillhart. Blackout winners were Opal and Mary Ellen.

The Feb. 21 meeting will be with Hesta Bridges. Roll call will be "Do You Know?" The hostess served delicious refreshments of chicken salad sandwiches, chips, nuts, candies and coffee.

Eddie and Opal took Mary Dahmer, Nevada, Mo., to breakfast on Jan. 13, and later attended a baby shower for Cami Bobbett, Nevada, Mo.

Edna Mae Marsh ate lunch with Hubert and Jo Ann Thomas on Jan. 13.
