William (Bill) K. Leitz, age 67, of Billings Mo., passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008, in St. John's Regional Health Care Center in Springfield, Mo. with his family by his side. He was born October 10, 1940, the son of William H. and Leta M. (Wilson) Leitz of Fort Scott, Kansas. He graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1958 and then joined the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for 3 years. He went on to work as an air traffic controller for many years. He was united in marriage to Carolyn A. Lauer on July 10, 1965. He enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping. His most favorite past time was being the local prankster no matter where he was at. After retirement, his hobbies were reading, listening to the radio, and being with family and friends. He loved baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; 2 sons, Billy of Billings, Mo., Andy and wife Kathy of Republic, Mo.; 2 daughters, Debra and husband Mark of Marionville, Mo., Michele and husband Andy of Springfield, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Kaleb, Kolby, Camryn, and Logan. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Bill was a wonderful husband, great father, grandfather, and friend. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Per Bill's wishes, he was cremated and will be laid to rest at a later date.
