Group enjoys last dance of 2007

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

It was a nice evening and a good turnout for the seniors' Monday night Christmas dance at Buck Run. At 7 p.m. Lonnie Engle and Marvin Taylor brought in a box each of nice oranges and apples and candy canes Lonie had gotten from Gene's IGA. Joan, Lonnie and Marvin handed them out. After a short intermission the band resumed.

The line dance had a few extra dancing. It's easy and everyone seems to enjoy it. Alva McNeely sings the tune that they dance to, usually "Achey Breaky Heart."

Lonnie Engle presented the band with a monetary gift he had collected and thanked them for their support through the year. It benefits us to get out and do what we do, and it is very appreciated by everyone. It is like Kyle Brillhart used to say "It is like taking a dose of medicine and does us all good."

We had two newcomers tonight, Don and Jerry Parry from Mound City. They were introduced and welcomed.

There were three birthdays this week. Lucille Shumaker's, Clarence Nation, and Lonnie Engle's.

Varrel and Shirley Forgey will celebrate their 57th anniversary the 30th of this month.

A get well card was signed for Lawrence Bowyer who fell and bruised his nose and face. Also, a get well card was signed for Estel Cox who is in the VA hospital in Kansas City.A "thank you" card was signed for Gene's IGA for the fruit.

There will be a dance at Pittsburg Community Center Tuesday night and a Christmas dance at Cadmus friday night.

There will be no dance Christmas Eve or New Years Eve. Our next dance will be Jan. 7, 2008.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
