She was born September 9, 1925, in Blythesville, Arkansas, the daughter of William Wheat and Ollie Epperson Wheat. She worked as a beautician in Fort Scott for many years and loved being with people. She was a member of Community Christian Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook who loved her family.
Gypsy is survived by her husband, Frank, of the home; son, Shawn Hereford and wife Dixie, Houston, TX; daughter, Becky Canaday, Towanda, KS; brother, Joe Wheat, Pittsburg, KS; five grandchildren, Evan and Cory Schenkel, Harmony Harts, Mary Beth Jennings, and Shane Jennings; and one great-grandchild, Presli Harts. She was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Wheat, and a sister, Sheryl Smith.
Funeral services for Gypsy Hereford will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2007, at the Community Christian Church, with Rev. Kevin Moyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel, and Monday at Community Christian Church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
