Visitors welcomed at worship Nov. 4 were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Brown and new daughter Lillian, and Shelby Vender and her friend.

Pastor Andy Smith's sermon was titled "Remember The Blessing." Scripture was read from Ephesians 1:11-23 and Luke 18:9-14. Worship assistants for the month of November are Liturgists David and Cindy Schwalm; Greeters Cassie and Zack Schwalm; and ushers Ron and Beverly Brown.

The nominating committee met following services Sunday morning to select church officers for 2008. Church charge conference will be Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

Members of the congregation have been again invited to join the community choir at Uniontown to practice for the Christmas Cantata.

Ron and Beverly Brown attended the Bourbon County Parish council meeting at the U.M.C. in Uniontown Nov. 5. It was voted to continue the parish meetings for another year.

Herman Werholtz enjoyed having Tracy Brown and Trenton and Kole visit him recently.

A special offering was taken at worship on Oct. 28 for Unicef which netted $135.45. Later donations were received which brought the total to $160.

Judy Tripp recently spent a week in Las Vegas, the guest of her son.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miller visited with Elmer's sister Ruby Harper in Fort Scott Sunday afternoon Nov. 4.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mitchell have been helping their daughter Karen and family get ready to move to their new home in Lamar, Mo.

Beverly Davis and Lynda Foster enjoyed a trip to Branson this past week with the Funseekers.

Earl Maloney recently spent several days in Colorado on a hunting trip with friends.

Ideal Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star members enjoying attending the Friendship Night at Olive Chapter 13, Fort Scott on Nov. 6 were Dorothy Ketner, Margaret McDermed, Clara Brewer, Gayla Croan, Jeannie Hart, and John Coyan.

Ideal Chapter 369 met Nov. 8 with Effie and Dean Mitchell presiding in the East as worthy matron and worthy patron. The worthy matron welcomed everyone with a November welcome about Thanksgiving.

General Grand Chapter Education Chairwoman Shirley Palmer was given special recognition and welcome.

Receiving positions and balloting were practiced as that is Ideal's assignment for the school of instruction, Dec. 1 at Amy Chapter in Galena. The worthy matron urged all officers to attend this school if possible. It is an afternoon school that will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Dress is street dress.

The associate matron announced that members should bring finger foods for the Dec. 13 meeting. There will not be another meeting in November. We will have a Christmas party following the meeting. Members are to bring at least two white elephant gifts for Bingo instead of a gift for exchange.

Correspondence included a letter from Worthy Grand Matron Isabel Adams, an invitation to the District school, Friendship meeting at Kent Chapter on Nov. 15, official visit of worthy grand matron and worthy grand patron at DeSoto Chapter Dec. 6, and a letter from Director of Development Judy Quick at the Kansas Masonic Home.

The chapter voted to send a contribution to the Good Deeds Fund at the masonic home to help with the Christmas wish list.

The secretary reported she had received several dues and some generous donations from members.

The treasurer's report was given by Margaret McDermed.

During the Good of the Order, the worthy matron read a Thanksgiving article. The associate matron and associate patron presented belated monetary birthday gifts to the worthy matron and worthy patron from the chapter.

The worthy matron expressed her thanks for the gift and also for the anniversary gift from the chapter. She also thanked those officers that had changed offices for the meeting.

Gayla Croan reported on the visit to Fort Scott Chapter for Friendship night. Six Ideal Chapter members were in attendance at this meeting.

The worthy patron had these words of wisdom to leave with the group, "An elevator will take you to the top but it takes character to keep you there."

Dean and Effie gave their anniversary offering and the coin march was collected. Delicious refreshments of sandwiches, pumpkin pie and hot cider was served by Agnes Armstrong and Margaret McDermed.
