Tigers seeded sixth

OSAWATOMIE -- Fort Scott High School’s volleyball team drew the No. 6 seed in Saturday’s Class 4A Sub-State Volleyball Tournament, which will be held at Osawatomie High School.

With two courts in use, the Tigers, 10-24, will begin play against No. 3 Iola, 22-14, at the same time as No. 1 Paola, 31-8, squares off against No. 8 Prairie View, 4-33. Those matches will get underway at 2 p.m.

Two more matches follow: No. 4 Anderson County, 14-21, against No. 5 Burlington, 12-20, and No. 2 Ottawa, 27-9, versus No. 7 Osawatomie, 8-24.

The semifinal matches will be held at the same time. The Iola-Fort Scott victor gets the Ottawa-Osawatomie winner. The Anderson County-Burlington winner faces the Paola-Prairie View survivor.

The championship match, if all goes as expected, should begin around 6 p.m.

The winner of the Sub-State moves on to the Class 4A State Tournament at Salina’s Bicentennial Center Oct. 26 and 27.

NOTES *ż˝" Paola is ranked No. 3 in Class 4A in the Kansas Volleyball Associaton’s poll while Ottawa is listed among “others.” Lenexa St. James, 35-0, is No. 1 followed by Topeka Hayden, 31-5; Paola; Colby, 31-5; and Towanda-Circle, 31-4. Labette County and Chanute of the Southeast Kansas League also appear among “others”....
