She was a grocery clerk for Whiteside's IGA for 18 years, retiring in 1982, and she was a homemaker. She also worked for the Western Insurance Company for three years, and was a member of the Federated Church of Blue Mound.
Virginia is survived by two daughters; Janet Johnson, of Farlington, Kan., and Beverly Lind, of Fort Scott, and a son; Ronald DeMott, of Eudora, Kan., five grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ray, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services for Virginia at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with burial at the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Blue Mound. Visitation will be Monday evening, Oct. 15, from 7 p.m. -- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
