Patrick Eldon "Pat" Arnold, age 68, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at his home.
He was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Lewis and Susie Kelley Arnold. He married Kay Hutchison on Nov. 23, 1958, at the Cherry Grove Baptist Church. Pat worked in the Engineering Department for the Kansas Department of Transportation for many years. He also farmed and raised cattle. He was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church, the Memphis Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Kay, of the home; three daughters, Kathy Romero and husband Gabe, Pittsburg, Kansas, Lori Howard and husband Barry, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Diana Suber and husband Rickey, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Kelley Arnold, Fort Scott, and five grandchildren, Brenton, Blane, Brock, Brice and Veronica.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Nacole Smith Nelson and Natasha Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Arnold.
The Rev. Dale Cummins and the Rev. R.B. Shoemaker will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
