Fort Scott High's junior varsity tennis team made up a previously rained-out home tournament Thursday and wrapped up its part of the season by producing a bracket champion in No. 1 singles.
Brittany Doherty won the No. 1 singles division by going 3-0 on the day. She defeated Bobbi Ann Shanks of Columbus, 6-4, Daven Smith of Nevada, 6-3, and Eunae Abbuehl of Chanute, 6-4.
In No. 2 singles, Angela Love had a 1-2 record. She lost to Madeline Murdock of Columbus, 6-0, and Tiffany Thompson of Chanute, 6-1, but received a forfeit win from Nevada.
Taylor Bailey and Lauren Caulfield were also 1-2. They defeated Nicole Foreman and Coleen Didden of Nevada, 6-4, and lost to Macy Engroff and Makenzie Teel of Columbus in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-2), and to Melissa Churning and Ashley Parrett of Chanute, 6-4.
