The Fort Scott Community College Alumni and Friends Association is seeking nominations for the 2008 Outstanding Alumnus and Young Alumnus awards.

Any person may nominate a candidate with a final selection to be made by the Alumni and Friends Association Board of Directors. Nominations are due by Oct. 1.

Guidelines for the award state that first preference will be given to a candidate who is a graduate of FSCC, although candidates with a significant number of credit hours from FSCC may be considered. Nominees must exhibit a high moral character, good citizenship, and outstanding achievement in their chosen field.

Each recipient will also be expected to give a short speech during graduation ceremonies next spring and attend a reception in the recipients' honor. Outstanding Young Alumni candidates should be 40 years of age or younger.

To nominate a candidate, a form must be completed and turned in by the sponsor submitting the candidate's name. It is the sponsor's responsibility to have the candidate fill out the two-page form. Forms are available on the FSCC Web site, www.fortscott.edu, under the alumni link; from the FSCC Alumni Office by calling (620) 223-2700, extension 515; or by e-mail at alumni@fortscott.edu.

All nominations should be returned to the FSCC Alumni Office, 2108 S. Horton St., Fort Scott, KS., 66701. Nominations can also be faxed to (620) 223-6530, with an attention to the Alumni Office.
