Early September happenings in Hiattville

Mr. and Mrs. Ed McDaniel recently attended the McDaniel Family Reunion in Joliel, Ill.

Mr and Mrs. Ronnie Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Ed McDaniel were among the large crowd that attended the "Gala" this last week end.

The P.P.R. committee met with Pastor Smith, Aug.29 to discuss some goals for this coming year.

Pastor Smith attended the orientation program at Saint Paul Thursday, Aug. 30, where he resumed classes Sept. 4.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ericson, Beverly Davis and Lynda Foster have returned from a sightseeing trip to Michigan with the Funseekers.

Pastor Andy Smith was in Alabama this weekend, where he participated in the wedding of a friend.

Mabel Miller attended a luncheon Sept. 1 hosted by her niece Loretta George at Uniontown. Others attending were Arla and Leo Hartman and Thelma Buntain of Fort Scott, Evelyn Shull of Maize and Lisa and Shelby Hill of Chenery.

Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Wagner and Kole Spent Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner at La Harpe.

Mr and Mrs. Charles Brewer, Clara Brewer, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Wagner, Kayla and Kole attended the 3rd birthday party for Payton Vogelbacher at the home of her parents, Laura and Barry, in Spring Hill, Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. John Slater were in Oklahoma, Sunday attending a sheep sale.

Mattie Nell Dixson and Dora Page attended the annual High School Reunion at Hepler, Saturday night Sept. 1.

Kelli Ludlum and Matt Schertz of Washington D.C., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ludlum and were visitors at church Sunday.

Morgan Whitaker was guest preacher at worship Sept. 2. Whitaker is pastor at Wetmore and Goff United Methodist Churches and is the fiancee of Pastor Andy Smith. The title of her sermon was "Burdened with Sabbath." Scripture was read from Psalm 71:1-6 and Luke 13: 10-17. Julie Frey gave the children's sermon.

The monthly community supper is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8, at the church. Sept. 9 will be Communion Sunday.

Many from this area attended the parade and other festivies at Uniontown Labor DAy, the annual old "Settlers Day."

Beverly Davis and Clara Brewer attended the official visit of Isabel Adams, Worthy Grand Matron and Mike Towner, Worthy Grand Patron at Rob Morris Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Pittsburg, Sept. 4.

Lavone Page and Clara Brewer met Virginia Chambers at Wendy's Wednesday and enjoyed eating lunch with her.
