Tiger frosh 2-1 at first triangular

Fort Scott High School's freshmen volleyball team opened the season Thursday with two wins in three matches at the FSHS gymnasium.

The Tigers defeated Parsons in a sweep, 25-13, 25-13. Peyton Ridel served 21 points and Jenna Campbell 16 for the Tigers. Campbell, Morgan Tourtillott and Kori Allen each had three kills.

The Tigers beat Columbus in the second match, posting a 25-22, 25-20 sweep. Megan McDermed served 13 points for FSHS while Tourtillott served 10 and had two blocks. Allen recorded four kills and Campbell had two.

Jayhawk-Linn took the third match in three games, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21. Tourtillott served 17 points, Campbell 11 and McDermed 10 for the Tigers. Campbell recorded seven kills while Allen had six and Brooke Gillen picked up five.

The freshmen play tonight at Iola against the host Fillies, Chanute and Coffeyville. They will also travel to a tournament at Pittsburg Saturday morning with play starting at 9 a.m.

The next home appearance for the freshmen will be September 18 against Iola, Independence and Chanute.
