Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.dwnewcomers.com Nadine was born July 8, 1925 in Hepler, Kan. She graduated in 1943 from Hepler High School. From an early age music was a huge part of Nadine's life. She sang and played piano and clarinet. Later she sang in her church choir, performed solos and was a long time member of the Leawood Singers. She also had an avid interest in cooking, gardening, art, especially sculpting and woodcarving. She enjoyed parties and gatherings, especially singing with family and friends.

Another passion was her church, where she served in a variety of positions, including choir director, elder, and for ten years, as Fellowship chair, earning the nickname "Sarge" by running an efficient, organized kitchen.

She also worked as bookkeeper for the American Royal and owned an employment agency. After her marriage to Jay Shartran, she worked with him to manage his manufacturer's representative business. Together they traveled, fished, and golfed all over the world. Nadine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay, and siblings Georgia, Roberta and Virgil.

Her son Robert (Sharon) Shankel, daughters Kaye Shartran and Nancy (Tom) Feuerborn, stepson Steve Shartran, grandchildren Tony (Carol) and Mike (Michelle) Shankel, Chris (Jeff) Packard, Ben (Randi), and Mark Feuerborn, and nine great-grandchildren, and sisters Thelma Barnhill and Maxine Thompson survive her.
