Thursday, August 23, 2007

An automobile accident Wednesday killed two adults and an 8-month-old boy on Katy Road near Richards, Mo.

Callie J. Dobbs, 32, and passengers Kristle D. Pearson, 20, and 8-month-old Cecil Dobbs, all of Richards, Mo., died from unspecified injuries from the crash.

The Vernon County Coroner pronounced Cecil and Pearson dead at the scene. Callie died later at Nevada Regional Medical Center, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol report.

Three additional passengers in the vehicle Callie drove were also injured. Leslie Dobbs, 7, Shae Dobbs, 12, and Tyler Dobbs, 9, all of Richards, suffered serious injuries. They were flown to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., according to the report. Their status is unknown as of Thursday morning.

Shortly after 4 p.m., Callie was driving a 1999 passenger van when a 2001 Dodge pick-up truck broadsided the van at the intersection of Katy and 200th roads. The intersection was unmarked with road signs. Trees and bushes obstruct the view at the intersection, the trooper's report said. Douglas W. Harth, 28, also of Richards, drove the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and taken to Nevada Regional Hospital.

No one in the van except Cecil Dobbs was wearing a safety device. Harth was not wearing a seat belt either, according to the report.
