Clara Marie Meek, 90, a former resident of 920 Margrave, more recently of the Medicalodge, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kan. She was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Richards, Mo., the daughter of Allen Tucker and Ruth Smading Tucker. She married Andrew Meek on Nov. 18, 1936. Together Mr. and Mrs. Meek operated their farm near Hume, Mo., for many years. Following Andrew's death on March 8, 1994, Clara moved to Fort Scott. For the last year, she had made her home at the Medicalodge where she enjoyed doing crafts and visiting with the residents and staff. Survivors include a brother, Allen J. Tucker, Fort Scott, Kan.; a niece, Ruth Ann Hall, and husband, Leo, Hume, Mo.; two nephews, Joe Tucker and wife, Tessie, Fort Scott, Kan., and Jeff Tucker and wife, Terry, Pleasanton, Kan. Also surviving are three great-nephews, two great-nieces, two great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece. Rev. Ron Brown will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the West Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Medicalodge Activity Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
