Olive Ditmars attended a shower last Saturday at Moore-Few Care Center honoring her nephew Nick Williams and Kendra Burris.

Hugh and Marilyn Logan, H.M. and Terry Logan and Katlyn, and Kerry Daulton are among the many Vernon County residents, who are attending the state fair this week.

Mrs. Lori Malcom of Kansas City spent the weekend visiting her parents, Howard and Janet Hurlburt.

The Sheldon Christian Church will honor Andrew Kirschner and his wife, Kim, and daughter, Katherine, with a dinner Sunday, following worship service, as Sunday is the last day Andrew will fill the pulpit. He starts his duties as professor at Ozark Christian College. The congregation will help him celebrate his birthday on the 19th.

The Brown family held their family gathering Sunday at the home of Ronnie and Joann Jones. The event was scheduled at the Lamar Park, but due to the extreme heat, the move to the Jones' home was made. Those attending were Elizabeth Brown, Bob and Nancy Mooney, of Nevada; Larry and Sue Spencer and grandson, Brandon Spencer, of Canada; Randy Spencer of Garland, Texas; Dustin and Bobbie Jones, of Lamar; Bob and Ida Brown, Brian and B.J. Precure and children, Bryce, Brady and Abby, of Rogers, Ark.; Bill and Delila Brown, Ray and Norman Brown, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; Angie Brown of Liberty, Mo.; Don and charlotte Brown and daughter, Casey Brown and friend, Matt, of Diamond, Mo.; Rick Charla and Meagan, of Neosho, Mo.; Mary Love Calvin, of Ancadido, Mont.; her daughter, Tracy Willhide and Stephanie Young, of California. Following a delicious chicken dinner, the afternoon was spent visiting.

Mrs. Olive Ditmars reported that Larry Ditmars, who suffered a stroke, was still under the care of a specialist, and as yet, no reason for his stroke has been given. She also reported that grandson Jake, who was injured in a wreck is still receiving care at the hospital for injuries that included a brain concussion.

Jim and Delores Honey, Paul and Phyllis Sprenkle and I enjoyed Sunday dinner at the Cherry Street Grill, in Nevada.
