Ronnie and Bonnie Taylor and Raymond and Kathy Taylor drove to San Antonio, Texas, in July to see their son and grandson, Nathan Taylor graduate from Lackland Air Force Base there. Nathan took part in the flag ceremony at the graduation services, and graduated with the rank of Airman 3rd Class. Nathan has been assigned to duties at Fort Leonard Wood.
Dewaine and Beverly Geiger and Rev. Joel Dunn attended the Bourbon County Parish meeting, held at the St. John's United Methodist Church Monday evening, Aug. 13, in Fort Scott. Deanna Wier, President presided over the meeting. Sixteen answered roll call. The minutes from the May 7 meeting were read and adopted.
New business included voting a monetary contribution to Crop Walk. There is to be an organizational meeting for Crop Walk on Aug. 14 at the Community Christian Church.
The parish picnic will be held at Hiattville on Aug. 26, beginning with a 4:30 p.m. Fellowship, and the evening meal are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Each church is asked to have one talent number for the program and should furnish one freezer of homemade ice cream and one cake. Tickets for the meal are now on sale, adults, $6 and children under 12 are $3.
New Pastors, Charles Russell, Fulton, and Pastor Andrew Smith, Hiattville were introduced. All six pastors in the parish were present.
A committee from the church served light refreshments of cookies, chips and lemonade.
The next Parish meeting will be on Nov. 5, at Uniontown and will be election of officers. The group will also vote on the issue of either disbanding or keeping the Bourbon County Parish.
Dewaine and Beverly Geiger visited in Tulsa over the past weekend with their son Bob, and family.
The Bithel Fruit truck is scheduled to arrive in Uniontown on Aug. 29, at 3 p.m., to deliver fruit orders to patrons. The truck always parks on the north side of the city square for the delivery.
The Pass Time Club met Aug. 15, with Ruth Wilson. The business meeting was called to order by the President, Anna Rose, and Theda Headley read the minutes of the last meeting. Ruth Wilson read an article, "A Man from Texas Goes to Heaven."
The Hostess gift was won by Theda Headley and was a small dust brush. The guess what was won by Anna Rose, and was a package of Ramon Noodles. Several of the group was not feeling well, and caring thoughts went their way.
Lucille Reynolds had the misfortune to fall and fracture her hip. She is in the Neosho Memorial Regional Hospital in Chanute. She would enjoy receiving cards from her friends.
