This is what one of our photo galleries, this one featuring the Nevada Griffons, looks like. Herald-Tribune.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much is an entire photo gallery worth? Imagine having access to hundreds of photographs of community events and everyday happenings in your hometown.

You got it! The Fort Scott Tribune Online and The Nevada Daily Mail Online introduce "You Spotted" and "We Spotted" photo galleries, hosted by MyCapture.

On the Internet, log onto www.fstribune.com or www.nevadadailymail.com to scroll through the hundreds of photographs of community, school and holiday events, including The Good Ol' Days in Fort Scott, Bushwhacker Days in Vernon County, the Fort Scott Community College Back to School Week, Cottey College receptions, Bourbon and Vernon County Youth Fairs and more. You can even upload your own photographs.

"This feature supplies the community with an important service, preserving memories," Tabatha Beerbower, Rust Communications MOKS special projects manager, said. "The photo galleries really enforce the fact that this is the community's site. We want to capture all of the great things happening in Fort Scott and Nevada, and we want you to share your memories as well." The photo galleries can be found on either fstribune.com or nevadadailymail.com homepages in a gray box labeled "In Focus," found just below the Associated Press Video.

"We Spotted" holds hundreds of photographs taken by newspaper staff and contracted stringer photographers. Photographs are categorized into "albums," such as "Bourbon County Fair 2007" or "Area Flooding." Click on "We Spotted" or the featured photo album to register with a username and password and contact information. Clicking on an album will redirect to a full view of approximately 21 photos. You can click on photo or the magnifying glass below it to enlarge it. All photos are featured with a "Preview" watermark. You can add photos to your own MyCapture album or e-mail them. Clicking on the photo or the shopping cart icon will bring you to a page where you can order dozens of high-resolution reproductions of the photo, from photo reprints to t-shirts, coffee mugs, mouse pads and buttons.

After you order a print, you also will be given cropping options. MyCapture processes the order and will mail the order in 2 to 10 business days within the United States.

All orders are paid by credit or debit card.

Payment information is encrypted and protected to ensure security of customer information.

In addition to events, all photographs published in the daily newspaper are archived on MyCapture.

"The photo galleries are a great extension to the photos and stories ran in the print newspaper," Beerbower said. "It's fun to see all of the various aspects of a community event, in addition to the one or two that runs in the newspaper." The photo galleries have an interactive feature as well. "You Spotted" allows community members to upload their own photos of family, pets, events and travel. To upload a photo, click on "You Spotted" and then on "Submit a Photo."
