Vacation, visiting, giving a helping hand

Members of the Diamond Community Church were happy to have their pastor, Steve Muhota, back from an extended mission trip to Kenya, Africa. His message in Sunday's scripture was "Thanksgiving to God Because of the Generosity of the Saints," was taken from 2 Corinthians 9:10-15. Madisyn Harris and Bayli Jones sang "Don't Make Fun of Me." The Muhota family sang "Don't I Love You" in their native tongue. The members of the church will have a sandwich, salad or desert lunch after the morning service, Sept. 9. Pastor will tell about his trip. The public is invited.

Visitors with Lucile Wolf, Aug. 12, were Doug and Mary Coleman, Jacksonville, Fla. They went to several cemeteries and visited farms and homes that Doug remembered when he lived here as a child.

Eldon Leon Hawkins, Calif., recently visited with Eldon and Elma Underwood.

REcent birthday offerings at the Cherry Grove Church were given by Akaha Bules, Chloe Simpson and Courtney Sissey. Aug. 5, Pastor Dale's sermon was "Faith Works," James 2:14-26.Sherry Sissey, Marilyn Hadcock, Charlotte Dunlay and Ivy Smiley sang "Amazing Grace." Aug. 4, several members of the church went to Coffeyville to help with the flood clean up. Aug. 12, Nicole Conner sang "I'll Fly Away."

Dorothy Ketner, Beulah Queen, Anna Rourk and Esther Secrest enjoyed lunch at the restaurant in Deerfield, Mo. Aug. 8.

This community is happy to welcome Carol Bingesser, Jon and Brittany. Carol teaches at the Fort Scott Middle School.

Over 60 people attended the annual Query Reunion at the Buck Run Community Center Aug. 4.

Dixie Woolley, Marcha Boles, Arlan, William, Stephen and Cody, Catoosa, Okla., visited with Esther Secrest Aug. 4-6. They attended the Query Reunion and left Monday morning to visit the Precious Moments Chapel and Fantastic Caverns.

Our sympathies go out to the Thomas Family and Edna Mae Marsh whose grandson, Nathan Wright, was killed in a car accident Aug. 3. He was buried in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Wright was the son of Elizabeth and JoBob Wright, Miami, Okla.

Joan Koller is home after spending some time with her daughter in New Jersey, who underwent back surgery for the third time. We wish her a speedy recovery.

A lovely bridal shower was given for Wendy Korinek by Jill Schaffer and April Ftock, Aug. 11, at the Fort Scott Inn. Wendy received many nice gifts. She is to marry John Saldizer, Sept. 15 at the Presbyterian Church.
