Memorial, potluck, parish picnic all in Hiattville

Out of town people attending the memorial service for Mrs. Louise Morrison included David Morrison of Mission S.D., her granddaughter Ann and family of Omaha, Ne.; her grandson Mike and family of California; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Burns of Derby, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. tom Woodworth of Iola, and Virginia Chambers of La Cygene.

The Eastern Star service was presented by members of Ideal Chapter 369. Pastor Andy Smith conducted the service with Mattie Mell Dixon at the piano. The ladies of the church served a luncheon for the family and friends.

The title of Pastor Smith's sermon Aug. 2 was "We are always children." Scripture was read from Colossians 3: 1-11 and Hosea 11:1-11.

Worship assistants for the month of August are Liturgist Jennifer Sampson; greeters, John and Lorna Slater and ushers, Beverly Davis and Lynda Foster.

Pastor Andy Smith attended the wedding of a friend Saturday evening Aug. 4 at the St. Paul Chapel in Kansas City.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thomas in the tragic death of their grandson.

Elmer Miller is home from Mt. Carmel and recuperating from his recent knee surgery.

Beverly Davis, Lavone Page and Clara Brewer enjoyed attending a luncheon at the Hammond UMC, Aug. 8 and hearing Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jent tell of their experiences on their mission trips to Africa.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Schwalm and family have returned from a vacation trip to Colorado.

The monthly "potluck" was held at the church Aug. 10.

Pastor Smith enjoyed a few days recently with friends at Lake of the Ozarks.

Jessica Schwalm gave a birthday offering and Lynda Foster an anniversary offering at worship Aug. 12. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Swope's grandson Issac was a welcome visitor. Pastor Smith's sermon was titles "God! Stop giving me burnt sheep." Scripture was read from Isaiah 1: 10-20 and Hebrews 10:1-18.

Mr and Mrs. Steve Plaster attended a family reunion in Missouri this past weekend.

The annual Parish picnic will be held Aug. 26. Beverly Brown has tickets for the meals.
