Jeffrey Neil Oliver, 51, a resident of Fort Scott, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at the Specialty Hospital of Mid-America in Kansas City. Jeffrey was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Fort Scott, the son of James H. Oliver, Sr. and Margaret E. Turk Oliver. He was employed by Topco Laminates. He was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Scott. He enjoyed singing and music and liked playing cards and dominoes in his spare time. Jeffrey is survived by three sons, Geoffrey McAllister, Fort Scott, Joshua Oliver, Wichita, and Jeffrey Shopper, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Carrie Nelson, Calif., and Callirissa Oliver, Topeka; five brothers, James, Stephen, Rory, Rance, and Greg Oliver; four sisters, Jane McFarland, Lanita Tucker, Nyla Boyington, and Noreen Burrus; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Carolyn Haulcy; a brother, Henry Whitley; and a sister, Karen Oliver. Funeral services for Jeffrey Oliver will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Rev. Christopher Culbreth and Rev. Leroy Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
