Rowena Maxine Burt, age 84, resident of 1517 S. Crawford, Fort Scott, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 27th, 2007, at Fort Scott Medicalodge. She was born July 19, 1922 in Bronson the daughter of John Ennel and Mary Lawry Ermel. Maxine was a graduate of Bronson High School. She married Lyal L. Burt on November 23, 1939 in Girard. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2003. She was retired from the Inland Marine Department of the Western Insurance Company. Maxine attended the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed the United Methodist Women group.

Survivors include one son. Dan-ell Burt and wife Sheila, Fort Scott; a sister, Rita Mae Johnson, Bronson; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lyal, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Ficken and a sister, Doris Fink.

Rev. Paul Babcock will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in U. S. National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Monday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to either the First United Methodist Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
