The board also accepted the resignation of Cecil Feagins, a custodian for Fort Scott Middle School and Eugene Ware Elementary School.

The board approved the following bids that will be good through the next year.

The following bids include:

* Fort Scott Sanitation for trash, garbage and debris hauling.

* 5 Corners Tire and Service for servicing district vehicles.

* State Farm Insurance for vehicle insurance.

* Liberty Mutual for workers' compensation insurance.

Also, the board approved a quote from Derailed Commodity for carpet for two rooms at the high school as well as a 65-passenger regular route bus from Allied Bus Sales.

USD 234 business manager Alan Drake gave a report on the sale of the old middle school. The building closed on June 14 and is currently privately owned. The district will continue to use portions of the old building through a rental agreement with the new owner. The west building, including the gym and learning center, is still owned and operated by the district.
