At an open meeting held on June 9 at the United Methodist Church Annex, a covered dish dinner was conducted to honor Bronson No. 65 Order of the Eastern Star 50-year members and 50-year and 60-year members of Bourbon Lodge and Devon Lodge, and widows.
There were approximately 75 present for the dinner and entertainment.
Sister Rosanna Broughton was presented her 50-year emblem and certificate by Past Grand Patron Dewaine Geiger. She was escorted by her son, Kelly, and pinned by Sister Ellen Harper.The second member was unable to attend, as she is residing in a nursing home in Oklahoma. Her emblem and certificate will be mailed to her.
The 50-year and 60-year members of Bourbon Lodge and Devon Lodge were presented their emblems and certificates by Grand Musician for the Grand Lodge of Kansas Larry Swaim and DDGM Tony French. The 60-year emblem and certificate from Devon Lodge was presented to Brother Kenneth Schwartz, and he was pinned by Sister Clara Schwartz. The 50-year emblems and certificates were presented to Buford Stewart, who was pinned by his wife, Bea; William Rhoton, who was pinned by his wife, Sister Julia; and Leon Taylor, who was pinned by his wife, Flo.
Widow pins and a framed reading were presented to Grace Hyatt, who was pinned by her son-in-law, Randy Pierson, and Mary Stewart, who was pinned by her son, Alan.
Life membership cards were presented to all the 50-year members by OES Secretary Margaret Johnson and Master of Bourbon Lodge Glenn Smith.
Larry Swaim entertained with several selections on the piano.
The assembly was honored by Rick and Janet Reichert of Leavenworth. Rick is also a Grand Lodge officer.
Bronson Chapter had 21 members present, and a picture was taken with the honoree.
